PG medical course admissions date extended to Jan 14: DGHS informs HC

Recently, the Director General of Health Services informed the Madras High Court about its decision of extending the deadline for Post-graduate medical admissions through NEET PG exam until January 14, 2023.

Previously the apex medical body, National Medical Commission had fixed that PG medical admission process should be completed within December 2, 2022.

The submission from DGHS has come while the HC bench comprising Justice CV Karthikeyan was considering petitions filed by two private medical colleges who sought directions to the Selection Committee for sending a list of meritorious candidates from the State rank for filling up the vacant seats.

UGC asks universities to let students pursue dual-degree programmes at the same time

Universities across the country have been asked by the UGC to prepare a mechanism that will help students in pursuing two full-time academic programmes concurrently.

In April 2022, the commission unveiled the guidelines for pursuing dual-degree programmes.

Strict checking of documents to be sought at early stage

Medical aspirants have demanded that there is an urgent need to strengthen checking system to detect mischiefs that uses illegal ways to get admission in the medical colleges. This came after the inclident of Atal Medical Research University (AMRU), Mandi where the university failed to detect forged documents produced by students during counselling to secure admission in MBBS course.
