Ailing youth receives heart from old woman through complex surgery

A green corridor was recently created from AIIMS Delhi to Fortis Escorts Heart Institute in Okhla to facilitate the transportation of a live heart, with the help of the Delhi Traffic police.

The distance of about 5.5 km was covered within 4.25 minutes for transportation of the heart which takes almost 13-15 minutes in a normal routine. The efforts and assistance provided by Delhi Traffic Police were appreciated by the administration of Fortis Hospital.

NMC fee order for 50 percent private medical college seats not applicable in Kerala: High Court

Amid the ongoing litigations and court proceedings over the National Medical Commission (NMC) Fee Order, the Kerala High Court has recently held that the order directing the private institutes charging fees at par with the government medical colleges for the 50% of the total seats would not be applicable in Kerala.

The High Court bench comprising of Justice Devan Ramachandran expressed such an opinion as it took note of the fact that after the implementation of Kerala Medical Education (Regulation and Control of Admission to Private Medical Educational Institutions) Act, 2017 there is no longer ‘Government Quota’ and ‘Management Quota’ seats in the Private medical institutes.

Upset with delayed NEET PG counselling, resident doctors write to Health Ministry, Threaten Protest

The recent decision of the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) postponing the counselling for National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test Postgraduate (NEET-PG) 2022 counselling is being highly criticized by the resident doctors, who have already written to the Union Health Minister and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) in this regard.

In fact, referring to the delay in last year’s counselling and the nationwide strike thereafter, the Federation of Resident Doctors’ Association (FORDA) and Federation of All India Medical Association (FAIMA) has warned the authorities for possible protest activities if the counselling does not get started at the earliest.

Women dies during IVF treatment, investigation reveals IVF center being run by QUACK

In a shocking incident, a fake doctor who headed an IVF center in Greater Noida was arrested after a woman who was there for treatment died allegedly due to “gross negligence”.

The accused whose MBBS degree was found to be fake has been identified as Priya Ranjan Thakur, has been arrested and an FIR was lodged against him at the Bisrakh Police Station, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Central Noida) Rajesh S said.

Blood group of individual linked to risk of having an early stroke

People with early stroke were more likely to have blood type A and less likely to have blood type O compared to people with late stroke and people without stroke. Both early and late stroke were also more likely to have blood type B compared to controls, according to a new meta-analysis led by University of Maryland School of Medicine (UMSOM) researchers. The meta-analysis included all available data from genetic studies focusing on ischemic strokes, which are caused by a blockage of blood flow to the brain, occurring in younger adults under age 60.
