Govt hospitals in UP to soon offer 8 NBE diploma courses for MBBS doctors
Bringing good news to MBBS doctors who want to pursue specialisation, the National Board of Examinations (NBE) has proposed running a two-year diploma course in eight departments of government hospitals in Uttar Pradesh.
NBE has proposed running diploma courses in eight departments including anesthesia, gynaecology, paediatrics, Otorhinolaryngology (ENT), radiodiagnosis, medicine, Ophthalmology and the department of Tuberculosis & Chest Diseases.

Inadequacies in Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, Delhi HC directs the State Govt to consider matter
While considering a Public Interest Litigation (PIL), the Delhi High Court has recently directed the Delhi Government and the concerned authorities to consider the representation that highlighted all the inadequacies in the Delhi Nursing Home Registration Act, 1953.
Granting eight weeks’ time to Government of NCT of Delhi, the HC division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad disposed of the second round of litigations filed by the petitioner.

Delhi High Court asks Centre to decide on admission to NEET candidates with low benchmark disability against vacant seats
The Delhi High Court bench on Tuesday asked the Central Government to decide if candidates with less than benchmark disability should be allowed to get admitted in the MBBS course against the unfilled seats reserved for persons with disabilities (PwD).
This direction was issued by the Delhi High Court bench headed by Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma while considering the plea by an MBBS aspirant having permanent locomotor disability, who was found to be short of the 40 per cent threshold prescribed for a benchmark disability – a precondition for claiming reservation in education.

HC seeks clarification from NMC regarding MBBS admission cancellation in RIMS
The Jharkhand High Court has recently sought clarification from the Apex medical education regulatory body- National Medical Commission (NMC) in a plea concerning the cancellation of MBBS admission of a disabled candidate in the state-run Rajendra Institute of Medical Sciences (RIMS).
Issuing notice in this regard, the bench has posted the matter for further hearing on March 14, 2023.
The concerned MBBS aspirant, who hailed from Lohardaga district of the State, approached the High Court bench challenging the cancellation of his admission and sought relief.

DME Gujarat notifies on NEET UG Round 1 refund process
The Director of Medical Education (DME Gujarat) has notified the candidates about the refund process for round 1 UG candidates for 2022-23.
The refund process will continue till 28.2.2023 up to 4:00 pm. The candidates, who have either admitted/ not been admitted in Medical/Dental/Ayurvedic/Homeopathy and are eligible for a refund from the tuition fee paid at ACPUGMEC, must fill in the online details at http://www.medadmgujarat.org/ug/home.aspx; regarding their refund.

Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi takes charge as new Drugs Controller General of India
Rajeev Singh Raghuvanshi has been appointed as the new Drugs Controller General of India (DCGI), Central Drugs Standard Control Organization (CDSCO) by the Appointment Committee of the Cabinet led by the Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Wednesday.
Raghuvanshi will be replacing PBN Prasad, who was given an interim charge of DCGI. The Union Health Ministry had appointed P B N Prasad as interim DCGI on February 16 till February 28.
